Uganda miss out on ISF quarter finals by goal difference

Despite an impressive start beating Brazil and Chile 45-41 and 78-31 respectively, Uganda boys basketball team missed out on quarter finals with a decisive factor being goal difference.

Uganda’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams have been eliminated from the quarterfinals at the ISF World Schools Basketball Championship in Macao, China.

The girls’ team lost 51-26 to France, finishing last in Group C without a win. The boys’ team narrowly lost 60-58 to unbeaten Serbia, missing out on the quarterfinals by a single point in goal difference.

Despite their efforts, both teams will now play in classification games to determine their final rankings.

The boys will face Czech Republic tomorrow morning at 6:45 AM EAT while the girls will take on India at 5:00 AM EAT.

The tournament has been a valuable experience for the young Ugandan players, who have shown great potential and determination on the court. Although their medal hopes have been dashed, they will return home with their heads held high and a wealth of experience to build on for future competitions.
