Kampala, 13th September 2023 – The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) and the Association of Secondary School Headteachers of Uganda (ASSHU), has officially extended an invitation to all interested secondary schools to bid for the privilege of hosting or co-hosting the prestigious Uganda Secondary Schools National Championships in 2024.
The championships are a showcase of talent and sportsmanship in the Ugandan secondary school system and consist of several exciting events, including the Fresh Dairy Secondary School Games, Secondary School Football Boys Championship, Secondary School Swimming Gala, and Ball Games II/Athletics Championship. This opportunity is a chance for schools to play a significant role in promoting sports excellence among the nation’s youth.

Completed forms should be submitted to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) at their office located in GNS Plaza, opposite Gaddaffi Mosque. Alternatively, schools can send scanned copies of their completed forms via email to usssa2002@gmail.com. All submissions must be received by the USSSA no later than 5:00 PM on September 30, 2023.
It is important to note that for a hosting bid to be considered, schools must also seek endorsement from their respective Local District Authorities, including the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), District Education Officer (DEO), and District Sports Officer (DSO). This endorsement is crucial in the evaluation process and ensures the support and cooperation of local authorities.
This is a unique opportunity for secondary schools to not only showcase their commitment to sports development but also to contribute to the overall growth of youth athletics in Uganda. The championships have historically served as a platform for nurturing talent and fostering a spirit of healthy competition among students.
In his official invitation, Mr. Mugisha Christopher Banage, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of USSSA, expressed the organization’s enthusiasm for hosting another successful championship and encouraged schools to participate actively in the bidding process.
All secondary schools interested in hosting or co-hosting the Uganda Secondary Schools National Championships 2024 are urged to act promptly, adhere to the outlined guidelines, and make their mark on the future of Ugandan sports.
