As excitement builds ahead of the much-anticipated CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals in Ghana, CAF has confirmed African legends Asamoah Gyan and Clementine Toure as assistants for the Official Draw on Monday, 21 April in Accra. The CAF African Schools Football Championship, Ghana 2025, will take place in Accra between 23 – 26 April.
Uganda will be represented by St. Noa Girls School in the girls’ category, while St. Mary’s Kitende will represent Uganda in the boys’ category. The girls’ team will be CECAFA’s representatives after emerging as champions in the qualifiers that were held in Uganda late last year.
In the boys’ category, St. Mary’s Boarding School Kitende qualified as runners-up since champions Tanzania had a slot as the defending champions. This will be the team’s second consecutive time at the final championship, having featured at the 2nd edition that was held in Tanzania last year. The team fell short of the group stages after acquiring 1 point in two games played. A loss to Tanzania 1-0 and a goalless draw with Senegal meant that the East African giants were knocked out.
Since its initiation in 2023, Uganda has booked at least a slot at the final championship, with its best-ever performance being the girls’ bronze medal that came last year through Kawempe Muslim. In 2023, Royal Giants was meant to represent CECAFA at the inaugural tournament in Tanzania but couldn’t make it due to technical difficulties.
In 2024, Kawempe Muslim and St. Mary’s Kitende, alongside hosts Tanzania, represented CECAFA, and Kawempe managed to win bronze after beating Tanzania’s girls 1-0 in the third-place playoff, having lost to Morocco in the semi-finals, while Kitende didn’t go past the group stages.
The CAF African Schools Football Championship Continental Finals mark the culmination of another impactful season of the innovative youth football competition and will see eight nations in both the Boys’ and Girls’ Under-15 age categories contesting for continental honors.

Running parallel to the four-day competition will be various CAF Capacity Building Programs that have been uniquely designed to develop future African talent that is equally able to lead both on and off the pitch.
South Africa is the current holder of the CAF African Schools Football Championship Girls U-15 title, after clinching it in a closely contested encounter against Morocco in Tanzania last year. The Boys U-15 title is held by Tanzania, who lifted the trophy in front of their supporters last year following their win over Guinea.
Winners of both the Boys’ and Girls’ competitions will each receive USD 300,000 in prize money, with the runners-up receiving USD 200,000 and bronze medalists USD 150,000 to be utilized for development projects within schools.
