Ugandan schools know opponents for ISF WSC Volleyball this April

The Ugandan schools that will be participating in the International School Federation(ISF) championship have today been drawn into groups.

International School Sport Federation (ISF) is an international non-profit sport organization, acting as the umbrella organization and governing body for national school sports organizations around the world, organizing sports, and educational events for youth from 12 to 18 years old.

Recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1995, the ISF currently consists of 134 members over the five continents organizing over 10 events per year, and has more than 30 different sports included in its competition programme.

Besides its sports events, ISF also creates and delivers quality education and capacity-building activities for physical education teachers, national school sports representatives, coaches, officials, and students around the world.

Namugongo Secondary and Vocational School, Bukedea Comprehensive School, and Standard High Zzana will represent Uganda at the ISF WSC Volleyball.

The championship is scheduled to take place in the Serbian capital, Belgrade from 19th to 29th April 2024.

The 3 boys’ teams have been drawn in groups D, E and G. Namugongo Secondary and Vocational School will face sides from Bulgaria and Georgia in group E, Bukedea Comprehensive in group G Alongside schools from Chinese Taipei, Cyprus and Bangladesh while Standard High School is drawn in group D to face sides from Germany, Iran and Belgium.

Bukedea Comprehensive School is the only girls’ school that will represent in Belgrade and will face Germany, Italy, and Georgia.

The school qualified after a good performance at the FEASSSA games that took place in Huye Rwanda in August 2023.

Namugongo Secondary and Vocational School were 1st runners up after losing the final to the Kenyan side but they emerged as the best Ugandan side.

“We have a group of 17 members,13 students and 4 officials that is ready to travel because all documents have been acquired and we are now focusing on training. The students are training every day after classes at 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and we are ironing out the mistakes that cost us the trophy in Rwanda last year”. “Our target is to make the final and emerge champions, we understand that being an international we must do a few things differently but this is possible”. Lubega Pius concluded.

  • June -ISF Football World Cup in Dalian, P.R China
  • October-ISF Gymnasiade in Manama, Bahrain.
