Uganda’s Representative Schools Seek to Continue Winning Streak in FEASSSA Girls’ Football

As the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSSA) games approach, Uganda’s representatives are gearing up to dominate the Girls’ football category once again. Over the years, several Ugandan schools have left their mark in this prestigious tournament, and this year’s participants are eager to add their names to the illustrious list of past winners.

FEASSSA Girls’ Football has witnessed some intense competition throughout its history. The event showcases the talents and skills of young female footballers from across East Africa. As preparations intensify for the upcoming games, schools from Uganda eyeing the title need to be aware of the historical performances and strengths of their rivals.

Looking back at the past winners, Kenyan schools have notably dominated the competition. Arch Bishop Njenga, Wiyeta, and Jera Mixed from Kenya have all clinched the title on multiple occasions, showcasing their football prowess.

However, Uganda has also seen success in the tournament, with notable victories by Nangwa in 2003 and Kawempe Muslim in 2012. The triumph of St Noa Girls in 2022 added to Uganda’s list of champions, inspiring this year’s representatives to continue the winning tradition.

The absence of the tournament in 2020 and 2021 due to unforeseen circumstances may have disappointed many aspiring teams, but it has also fueled their determination to shine in the 2023 edition of the FEASSSA Girls’ Football.

With the 2018 champions, Kawempe Muslim, returning to defend their title, there is a sense of anticipation and excitement in the air. Schools like St Noa Girls and other representatives from Uganda are determined to challenge the Kenyan schools’ supremacy and bring glory to their nation.

The championship is scheduled to take place from August 17th 2023 in Huye, Rwanda.

As the 2023 FEASSSA Girls’ Football tournament approaches, all eyes are on the yet-to-be-decided winner, whose name will be etched in the annals of East African schools’ sports history. The spirit of healthy competition and the desire to achieve greatness will undoubtedly lead to thrilling matches and unforgettable moments on the field.

For now, as the Uganda representatives prepare themselves for the challenge that lies ahead, they will undoubtedly be focused on training hard and strategizing to bring home the trophy.
