Uganda’s sports scene is buzzing with unity and commitment as the Uganda Primary Schools Games Association (UPSSA) extends its gratitude to the Uganda Secondary Schools Administration (USSSA). This partnership aims to boost sports across the nation by sharing expertise with primary school athletes. Pauline Musigire, Chairperson of UPSSA, highlighted this collaborative initiative during an address to games teachers at a five-day training event in Mbarara City’s St. Mary’s Technical Institute.

“We’re standing together to lift Uganda’s sports arena. The joint effort of UPSSA and USSSA shows our dedication to nurturing young talents and laying the foundation for sports success,” noted Pauline Musigire, Chairperson of UPSSA.

The training, a combined effort by USSSA and UPSSA, takes a step towards enriching sports education for budding talents in primary schools. Two games teachers from each district have been chosen to partake in this enlightening event.

“Your active involvement will make this initiative a success. Embrace this training to shape Uganda’s sports future,” encouraged Harriet Apolot, 3rd Vice President of the Uganda Secondary Schools Games Association.

Sam Odongo, Assistant Commissioner of Physical Education, joined the event’s launch, sharing motivation for all participants. “Your dedication to learning these skills will ripple beyond the field. You’re architects of a brighter sports future for Uganda,” he said.

The training covers diverse sports like Athletics, Netball, Football, and Volleyball. The goal is to empower games’ teachers with tools and knowledge to coach young sports enthusiasts effectively.

“This training equips us with modern coaching techniques to unlock our young athletes’ potential. We’re grateful for this opportunity to improve our skills,” expressed one of the attending games teachers.

The UPSSA-USSSA collaboration showcases how unity and shared expertise can create positive change. This joint effort promises to uncover hidden talents and build a robust sports culture in Uganda, nurturing a generation of empowered and inspired youth through sports education.
