UPSSA ATHLETICS: Katakwi takes over Kitgum.

The stage was set for a day of thrilling competition at Boma Ground in Kitgum, as young athletes gathered to showcase their speed and agility in the 60m sprint races.

The under 12 and under 14 boys and girls took to the track, ready to give it their all and make their mark.

In the under 12 boys’ category, Opule Moses from Katakwi district emerged victorious with a time of 5.99 seconds, closely followed by Olupot John Michael and Iupat Gilbert, also from Katakwi.

Meanwhile, in the under 12 girls’ category, Malinga Ruth from Katakwi took the top spot with a time of 6.20 seconds, with Kedi Rachael and Onyang Rebecca, also from Katakwi, following closely behind.

In the under 14 boys’ category, Ediedu Linus from Katakwi secured the top spot with a time of 6.01 seconds, with Waiswa Paul and Opius Fredrick, also from Katakwi, taking second and third place respectively.

As for the under 14 girls, Asio Jemimah from Katakwi emerged victorious with a remarkable time of 5.99 seconds, followed by Adedi Martha and Kulume Esther Naume, also from Katakwi.

Asio Jemimah, the overall winner proudly expressed towards her victory . “I’m very happy because I have won the 60m sprint race and I hope for better,”

The events also featured Special Needs Education (SNE) athletes, who showed resilience and determination, winning several races.
