USSSA Announces Capacity Building Program 2023/24: Empowering Uganda’s Youth Through Education and Training

Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) is thrilled to unveil its upcoming Capacity Building Program, designed to empower students, pupils, teachers, and sports enthusiasts across Uganda. The primary goal of this initiative is to prepare the 2023 candidates from P7, S4, and S6 for a brighter future in the world of sports. USSSA’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering excellence in school sports is at the heart of this program.

Diverse Training Courses

USSSA’s Capacity Building Program offers a wide array of training courses across various sports disciplines, ensuring that participants can enhance their skills, knowledge, and passion in their chosen field. Courses include Football, Netball, Volleyball, Athletics, Basketball, Handball, and Racket Games (Table Tennis, Badminton, Tennis). Additionally, a special course in Media is available for those interested in sports journalism and broadcasting.

Key Program Details

  • Duration: The program spans one week(7 days).
  • Dates: The program is set to take place from December to January.
  • Cost: For nonresidents, the course fee is 98,000 UGX, while residents register for 150,000 UGX.
  • Limited Capacity: Each class is limited to 40 participants, with registration available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Flexibility: Participants can register for multiple courses, allowing them to expand their skill set without as long the courses sare not taking place at the same time (schedule conflicts).
  • Comprehensive Training: The program includes theoretical sessions, practical training, and examinations to ensure a holistic learning experience.
  • Certification: Upon completion, each participant will receive a certificate of attendance from USSSA. Successful candidates will also be awarded internationally recognized certificates of merit from the respective sports federations.

Financial Information

To make this program possible, USSSA generously covers the costs associated with literature, instructors, accreditation, training equipment, and publicity. The parental/school contribution of 98,000 UGX is allocated towards meals (including breakfast, lunch, and evening tea), venue expenses, and essential training kits.
