Kampala, 13th September 2023 – The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) extends a warm and enthusiastic invitation to all its esteemed members, Honorary Zonal Chairpersons, and Secretaries to the much-anticipated General Assembly (AGM) for the year 2023. This significant event will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the GNS Hotel, situated within GNS Plaza, just opposite the iconic Gaddaffi Mosque on Old Kampala Road. The AGM will commence promptly at 09:00 AM.
The USSSA AGM is a crucial gathering that serves as a platform for members to come together, discuss vital issues, and make decisions that will shape the future of school sports in Uganda. To ensure that the AGM is a productive and meaningful event, a proposed agenda has been prepared, outlining the key topics that will be addressed:
Proposed Agenda:
1. Arrival, Registration, Prayer, and Introduction: The AGM will commence with a warm welcome, followed by registration, a prayer to invoke blessings for the event, and an introduction of all participants.
2. Address from the Chairperson: The USSSA Chairperson will provide a comprehensive address, highlighting the association’s achievements, challenges, and future plans.
3. Minutes Reading, Correction, Approval, and Matters Arising: The minutes from the previous AGM will be reviewed, and any necessary corrections or amendments will be made. Matters arising from the minutes will also be discussed.
4. Activity Report: The association will present a comprehensive activity report, summarizing the key events and initiatives undertaken during the past year. This report will shed light on the progress made in promoting sports at the secondary school level.
5. Financial Report: The financial report will provide a transparent overview of the association’s financial status, including income, expenditure, and any financial challenges encountered.
6. Sports Calendar and Hosting of FEASSA Games & National Championship 2024: The USSSA will present the sports calendar for the upcoming year, as well as plans and considerations for hosting the FEASSA Games and the National Championship in 2024.
It is essential to note the following key points:
1. Representation: Each USSSA Zone will be represented by a maximum of five (5) Delegates at the AGM. Among these delegates, at least one (1) must be a female member. This representation ensures diversity and inclusivity in decision-making.
2. Proposals: Any new proposals or suggestions to be presented at the AGM must be submitted to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) no later than September 28, 2023, by 5:00 PM. Proposals can be sent via email to usssa2002@gmail.com or cbkbanage@gmail.com. Your ideas and input are invaluable in shaping the future of school sports.
3. Attendance: Attendance at the AGM will be by nomination, as designated by the Zonal Chairpersons and Secretaries. Please ensure your active participation by following the nomination process.
