USSSA Ball Games II : Mukono zone qualifiers a whistle away.

Overview

Latifah Mixed SS- Mukono will play host for the boys and girls under- 16 football to be played on 29th June. Netball, volleyball and handball will be hosted by Hilton SS Mukono on Sunday 30th June.

In the boys’ under-16 category, the 8 participating teams were grouped into 2 in a meeting that was chaired by Mukono zone Chairperson Mr. Richard Muhumuza at Mukono Kings High School on 27th in attendance of the different games teachers.

Group A ( Kikube C/U playground)

  • Quality High School Buikwe
  • Dynamic SS
  • Vision For Africa
  • Lord’s Meade SS – Buikwe

Group B (Kabimbiri Play ground)

  • Mt. St. Henry’s Mukono
  • Namagabi SS
  • Latifah Mixed SS
  • St. Andrew’s Lugazi

Meanwhile in the girls’ category, four teams will compete for the coveted slot at the National championship. The five will play in round robin format and the one that collects the highest amount of points will be champion.

The Girls’ Football matches will be played at Mubanda Secondary School- Kasawo play ground.

Luboyera Herbert, games teacher at Latifah Mixed SS (host) was on site to address the USSSA Media about the readiness of the Mukono zone to host the games.

“The playgrounds are in the right conditions, well marked and available for the zone games. Girls’ Football will be played for only one day that is Sunday since the teams are few. For the boys, group stages will be played on Saturday 29th and later semi finals, classification and the final will be played on Sunday at Kabimbiri play ground.”-Luboyera Herbert.

Slot allocation

Mukono zone as per 2024 has 2 slots for the U16 boys in contrast to the one slot available for the girls’ football. Therefore, the winner in the girls’ category and the two that will qualify for the boys’ final will book their slots at the National championship.

Football grouped under the non- FEASSA ball games will be played later via this year at Teso College Aloet- Soroti from 1st to 9th September.
