The USSSA Boys Football Championship intensified on May 9 with thrilling results as teams vied for a place in the Round of 32.
Among the standout performances was Uganda Martyrs High School, Lubaga, who emphatically topped Group N after a commanding 4-2 win over Arengisep Secondary School.
Despite conceding first, Uganda Martyrs showed resilience and class. Arengisep took an early lead, but Andrew Lukyamuzi quickly leveled, setting the tone for Martyrs’ dominance.
Meddie Kavuma gave the Lubaga side the lead before Lukyamuzi bagged his brace to make it 3-1 at halftime. Ezra Emenyu added the fourth, and although Arengisep pulled one back, the 4-2 win cemented Uganda Martyrs at the top of their group, edging Kabalega Seed on goal difference.

- Bishop Comboni College Kambuga handed Chemwania High School a crushing 8-0 defeat, the biggest margin of the day.
- Amus College School eased past Buziga Islamic Theological College with a 4-0 win.
- Buddo Secondary School, a perennial powerhouse, dispatched Busia Secondary School 3-0.
- Blessed Sacrament Kimanya hammered St Lawrence High School, Crown City 4-0.
In the tight battles;
- Fortportal Secondary School edged Kitgum Comprehensive 3-2 in a nail-biting encounter.
- Kyadondo Secondary claimed a narrow 2-1 win over Agape Secondary.
- Standard High School Zana managed a slim 1-0 victory against Highway Secondary School Kiganda.
Draws and Defensive Battles:
- Lubiri Secondary School and Mentor Secondary School played to an entertaining 2-2 draw.
- Ssaku Senior Secondary School and Bugisu High School also shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.
- Lubongi Army held Nyamitanga Secondary School to a 1-1 stalemate.
Other Notable Results
- Masaka Secondary School stunned Standard High School Ndejje 3-0.
- Jinja Progressive Academy swept past Namagabi Secondary 3-0.
- Wisdom High School Akalo impressed with a 3-0 win over St Leo’s College Kyegobe.
- Galama Secondary School beat Labira Girls Secondary School 4-1.
- St Mary’s Boarding S.S. Kitende, one of the tournament favorites, kept it professional with a 2-0 win over Notre Dame High School.
