USSSA Building Capacity: Sacred Heart Hosts Northern Uganda Edition

By Arnold Mukwaya

On Sunday 8th December, students, games teachers, and sportsmen from different places arrived at Sacred Heart SS in Gulu City for the capacity-building program. The program, organized by the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association, aimed to equip the participants with skills in coaching, refereeing, and media.

A total of 62 participants, comprising 49 males and 13 females, were taking part in the program. Among them, 22 were training in football coaching, while 40 were learning the art of football refereeing.

The program kicked off on December 9th and was scheduled to run until December 13th. The participants are eager to learn from the experienced trainers and instructors, who had been brought in from the federations.

As evening approached the participants were taken to the playground for practicals on tactics and strategies. They engaged in drills and exercises, applying theoretical concepts to real-life situations.

Throughout the day, the participants were engaged and focused, putting their new skills to the test. The trainers and instructors provided guidance and feedback, helping them to improve their techniques.

The program was off to a great start, and the participants were excited to see what the remaining days had in store. With the guidance of experienced trainers and instructors, they were confident that they would acquire the skills and knowledge needed to excel in coaching and refereeing.
