USSSA Capacity Building: January 2025 Training Schedule

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has released the updated schedule for the January 2025 capacity-building training programs, designed to enhance the skills of both primary and secondary school sports educators and professionals nationwide. These programs will be conducted in various regions and offer certifications across different levels and disciplines.

The workshops are both residential and non-residential depending on the venue. Residential workshops go for 150,000UGX and Non-residential at 95,000UGX

Regional Training Highlights

  • Eastern Region:
    • Jinja College (12th–17th January): Courses include Netball Coaching and umpiring (L.1), Volleyball coaching and Refereeing (L.1), Football Coaching (Beginners), Football Refereeing (L.1)
    • St. Peter’s College Tororo (7th–12th January): Offers Football Coaching (Beginners), Football Refereeing (L.1), Basketball Beginners, and Athletics (Elementary) and Netball and umpiring (L.1)
    • Sebei College Tegeres (12th–17th January): Training covers Football Coaching (Beginners), Volleyball coaching and Refereeing (L.1), Netball Umpiring (L.1), Elementary athletics and Football refereeing (L.1)
  • Kampala Region:
    • Lubiri Secondary School (12th–17th January): Includes advanced courses in Basketball Refereeing (L.2), Gymnastics, Media, and First Aid and Injury Management (Beginners), football coaching (beginners), and referring (L.1), Volleyball coaching (L.2), Athletics (L.1)
  • Central Region:
    • Bishop’s Senior School (19th–24th January): Focused on Football Refereeing (L.1), Football Coaching Beginners, Volleyball Coaching Refereeing (L.1), and Netball coaching and Umpiring (L.1).
  • Western Region:
    • Mbarara High School (19th–24th January): Offers Level II courses in Football Refereeing and Volleyball Refereeing, alongside First Aid and Injury Management(Beginners).
  • Northern Region:
    • Moroto High School (19th–24th January): Features Football Coaching (Beginners), football Refereeing (L.1), Athletics (Elementary), Volleyball Refereeing (L.1), and Netball umpiring (L.1)
    • Sacred Heart SS, Gulu (19th–24th January): Advanced Football Refereeing (L.2), First aid and injury management
    • Lira Town College (19th–24th January): Includes CAF D-level Football Coaching and Handball Refereeing (L.1) and Lacrosse
    • Mvara Secondary School (12th–17th January): Courses include Football Refereeing (L.1) Football Coaching (beginners), Athletics (Elementary), Volleyball Refereeing (L.1), Media, netball umpiring(l.1)

Program Objectives

We are equipping teachers, students, and the public with the technical skills necessary to nurture young athletes. The courses cater to beginners and advanced participants, for a robust school sports ecosystem.

    1. In most cases, a workshop is approved once the region or centre can raise fhe number of attendees. Kindly get in touch with the regional/zonal coordinator for details

  2. I really appreciate the work of usssa bcoz they’re doing great job.Nurturing sports aspect so well.Thank you though am a refugee but l got a lot from the training bcoz am now a football referee who is aiming for recognition country wide.Thanks a lot.

    We got notice that it was postponed to January but you have only included referees course. And we had already.made payments before.
