USSSA Capacity Building: Kabale Attracts Youngest Participant

Twelve-year-old Antony Ahabwe a pupil of Kabale Quality Primary School had always been passionate about sports, particularly football. He spent every spare moment practicing his kicks, watching games, and reading about the latest tactics.

Ahabwe’s parent, who is a teacher at St. Mary’s College Rushoroza, suggested enrolling him in capacity building a chance he welcomed with open hands.
The youngest-ever participant in the USSSA Football Coaches Level 1 Capacity Building program, currently at St.Mary’s College Rushoroza –Kabale Municipality.
He is ambitious to assist young athletes in developing their skills but also to contribute to his personal growth as a coach particularly coming from western Uganda.


“After completing my level 1, it will be my job to assist young athletes develop their skills. But also my personal growth too,” Ahabwe emphasizes


Hadijah Namuyanja FUFA coaching instructor stressed that this is the right age to begin with because everything is fresh. With this crop of coaches, Ugandan football will be better again.


Ahabwe is among the 18 enrolled participants training as level 1 coaches under the USSSA capacity building program that will run for five days of residential training in western Uganda.
Refereeing level 1 is also taking place at the same center with an enrollment of 21 participants
