The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Capacity Building program came to a successful close on Friday, 24th February, at Lira Town College. The five-day program, which ran from Monday, 19th February, attracted a total of 67 participants from various schools across the region.
The program was divided into three categories: football refereeing, football coaching beginner’s level, and football coaching CAF D. A total of 36 participants attended the football refereeing course, while 20 participants attended the football coaching beginner’s level course. Additionally, 11 participants attended the football coaching CAF D course.

The refereeing class was led by Kubingi Margaret Kebba Fatia, with expert support from Okello Dick, a seasoned FIFA referee. The coaching classes, on the other hand, were led by Namuyanja Hadijah, a renowned FIFA Coach Instructor.
The closing ceremony was graced by the City Education Officer Mr. Ogole Daniel Fred, who was the guest of honor. In his remarks, the City Education Officer applauded USSSA for organizing the capacity building program, noting that it was a significant step towards improving the standards of sports in schools. He also encouraged participants who have been passed out to practice what they have learnt.
The program aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve their performance in their respective roles. The participants were taken through a series of theoretical and practical sessions, led by experienced instructors.

The USSSA Capacity Building program is part of the association’s efforts to promote and develop sports in secondary schools. The program has been well-received by participants, who have expressed their gratitude to USSSA for providing them with the opportunity to improve their skills.
As the program comes to a close, USSSA is confident that the participants will go on to make a positive impact in their respective schools and communities. The association looks forward to organizing similar programs in the future to continue promoting and developing sports in secondary schools.
