USSSA Capacity Building comes to Mbale City

The USSSA Capacity Training is taking place at Mbale SS in Mbale City.

The USSSA management is looking to skill 30,000 participants in fields of coaching and refereeing or Umpiring through various sports such as Netball, Football, Volleyball, Athletics, Handball, and Media.
Participants are also being first and injury management is a new course to the training.

Almost 5000 participants who are both students and teachers have been trained from December 2022 to December 2023 in various venues such as Mbarara, Soroti, Lira, Bukedea, Kabale, and Kampala.

The training in Mbale is taking place at Mbale SS and has attracted over 40 participants are here to take part in football refereeing and netball umpiring.

The participants are from Mbale district and its neighbors for example Soroti, Serere, Pallisa, and Budaka districts.

What the participants have to say

“I am looking forward to learning new rules of the game and I hope to use the knowledge gained here to make my students competent enough”. Alupo Brenda,a Mathematics and PE teacher at Nabumali High School undertaking Netball Umpiring classes.

“I enjoy watching football as a sport and hope to understand better the rules of officiating. In addition, I also would like to get certified as far as officiating the sport goes” Wako Yasin a football Referee participant from Pallisa district.

“I hope that I can use the knowledge gained here to officiate games at the community level in my district of Serere”. Joseph Okello from Serere District.

The participants were welcomed to Mbale SS by Mrs.Victoria Bagaya Munaba, Deputy Headteacher of co-curricular activities, and Ms. Mafabi Beatrice USSSA Executive Committee member representing the Eastern Region.
