Saturday 27th January was the last dance for the 5th Edition of the championship in Jinja. For the Girls’ Football category, the 3rd day of the championship was the day the gold winner would be determined.
Kawempe Muslim SS came from a goal down to salvage a point against Bukedea Comprehensive School courtesy of a Shadia Nabirye strike. A point was just enough to hand the Valley Warriors their first trophy this year. Kawempe finished top of the group with 13 points and one point above second-placed Boni Consili Girl’s School which settled for silver and St. Noa Girls SS which took bronze home.

St. Noa had their title chances nailed on the first day as they were stunned by Boni Consili Girl’s School through a Rina Ariho strike which was enough to seal their first win of the championship.

Rina Ariho, 15 from Boni Consili Girl’s School was the most valuable player of the championship having shown great ability in front of goal including bagging 5 goals in a single match.
Shadia Nabirye of Kawempe Muslim SS, Gloria Mutesi of Jinja SS, and Sumaiyah Nalumu of St. Noa Girls SS were also very impressive as they put up spectacular performances and bagged a couple of goals to ensure that their sides performed well.
The USSSA sporting calendar curtain raiser ended on Saturday evening at Kakindu stadium where all winning teams were awarded trophies and their respective medals.
