USSSA Elite Games Netball: Buddo SS Defend Title With a Victory Against Baptist High School

The USSSA Elite Games concluded today, with various school champions being recognized and awarded for their outstanding performances. The closing ceremony was attended by notable figures such as Sammy Odong (Assistant Commissioner Physical Education & Sports), USSSA EXCO, head teachers and the DPC of Jinja City, creating an atmosphere of prestige and importance. Enthusiastic supporters flocked to the event, eager to witness the final football match between two rival eastern schools.

In a thrilling display of skill and determination, Jinja Progressive Academy emerged as the victors, defeating Jinja SSS with a score of 4-3 in a penalty shootout. The highly competitive netball game saw defending champions Buddo SSS claim the USSSA Elite Netball title for the second consecutive year, defeating Baptist High School with a score of 32-28. Buddo SSS also showcased their dominance in girl’s basketball, triumphing over host school Jinja SSS with a score of 40-27. The intensity of the netball games was such that no other schools were able to secure titles in the tournament.

The first day of the games witnessed Jinja SSS suffering a heavy defeat against Buddo SSS, with a score of 46-21. Bukedea Comprehensive also faced disappointment, losing to Kawempe with a score of 29-19. However, Baptist High School emerged victorious against Kawempe Muslim Secondary School with a score of 40-19, followed by a narrow triumph over Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School with a score of 30-27. Jinja SSS faced another defeat, this time against Bukedea Comprehensive, with a score of 34-21. Meanwhile, Buddo SSS continued their dominance in netball, securing a score of 35-18 against Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School. Bukedea Comprehensive also suffered a loss against Baptist High School, with a score of 47-12.

On the second day of the games, Bukedea Comprehensive once again faced defeat, this time against Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School, with a final score of 23-44. Jinja SSS engaged in a thrilling match against Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, emerging victorious by a narrow margin of 31-30. However, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School encountered a formidable challenge from Buddo SSS and suffered a resounding defeat, with a score of 13-40. Jinja SSS, unfortunately, experienced their fourth loss in a row, this time against Baptist High School, with a score of 32-23. On the other hand, Buddo SSS continued their winning streak, securing another triumph against Bukedea Comprehensive, with a score of 47-13. Lastly, Jinja SSS concluded the games with yet another loss, this time against Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School.
