Kampla, 4th Dece,ber 2023 – The Uganda Secondary School Sports Association (USSSA) is thrilled to announce the commencement of the voting phase for the USSSA Excellence Awards 2023. This prestigious event aims to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of coaches, sports teachers, and student-athletes in secondary school sports across Uganda.
Voting Process:
The voting process is divided into three phases to ensure a fair and comprehensive selection of the winners.
Phase One (November 4th to December 6th):
During this phase, Headteachers, sports teachers, team captains, and coaches of all schools that participated in national championships, along with journalists, will cast their votes. Each participant is entitled to one vote and must provide their email, contact information, and the name of their school or institution. This phase will determine the top 5 nominees in most categories and the top 3 for female coaches and sports teachers.

Phase Two (December 7th to 9th):
In the second phase, Zones, represented by their Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer, will cast their votes to determine the top 3 finalists in each category.
Phase Three (December 10th to 11th):
The third and final phase will involve technical votes to decide the ultimate winners in each category.
Award Categories and Nominees:
The USSSA Excellence Awards 2023 will honor excellence in nine categories, acknowledging the best in coaching, teaching, and athletic performance. The total number of nominees across categories is 49, showcasing the depth and breadth of talent in secondary school sports.
- Coach of the Year (Male and Female)
- Sports Teacher of the Year (Male and Female)
- Athlete of the Year (Male and Female)
- School of the Year (Boys and Girls)
- Team of the Year (Girls and Boys)
- Fair Play Award (Most disciplined school on and off the pitch)
- SNEs Award (Best Special Needs School)
- Primary Schools (Represented Uganda and won in FEASSSA 2023 – Huye, Rwanda)
Criteria for Voting:
Participants are requested to adhere to the criteria for voting, which includes submitting only one vote per person, along with providing their email, contact details, and school or institution affiliation.

The USSSA Excellence Awards 2023 will culminate in a grand gala at the Imperial Royale Hotel on Friday, December 15th, 2023, starting at 2:00 pm.
