USSSA holds final preparatory meeting ahead of Non FEASSA Ball Games II

Kampala, Uganda – August 29, 2024 – The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has successfully conducted a preparatory meeting ahead of the highly anticipated Secondary School National U16 and Ball Games II (Non-FEASSA) Qualifiers, as well as the CAF U15 Schools Football Championship. The meeting was held at the USSSA National Offices, GNS Plaza, Old Kampala, chaired by President Emeritus Patrick Okanya on behalf of USSSA President Justus Mugisha and focused on key areas critical to the success of these upcoming championships scheduled to take place at Teso College Aloet from September 1st to 6th, 2024.

The representatives were from the qualified schools from games such as U14 football girls and boys, U16 football girls and boys, U16 Netball, U16 Volleyball, Lacrosse, Beach Soccer, Woodball, and DanceSport.

Key Areas of Focus:

  1. Registration:
    • All participants are required to complete their registration through the USSSA Online Portal, which was reopened on August 20th and will close on August 30th, 2024.
    • Teams must generate their participant albums from the USSSA portal.
    • Verification and screening of participants will be conducted upon arrival at the championship venue.
  2. Championship Duration:
    • The duration of the championship has been adjusted from nine days to six days. The games will now take place from September 1st to 6th, 2024.
  3. Financial Obligations:
    • Payments, as indicated in the invitation letter, are mandatory and cover the full board capacity for the required number of participants.
  4. Capacity Building Training:
    • Capacity-building training sessions will be held during the championship. All teams are required to present learners for training as specified in the invitation letter.
  5. Age Category Games:
    • The games will feature various age categories:
      1. CAF Football U15 (Boys & Girls) for players born between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2011.
      1. Football U16 (Boys & Girls) for players born between January 1, 2008, and December 31, 2009.
      1. Non-FEASSA Qualifiers (Boys & Girls) in U16 Volleyball, Netball, Basketball, Handball, and Basketball 3×3 for players born on or after January 1, 2008.
      • Ball Games II and Mind Games (Boys & Girls) in Woodball, DanceSport, Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, and Lacrosse for players born on or after January 1, 2004.

“We have called you to exchange ideas specifically to inform you about the new changes of dates and reducation of day’s from 9 to 6 days . This mainly has been due to financial constraints, Therefore, all teams will report on Sunday 01/09/2024 starting at 2pm ”. Partrick Okanya said.

Okanya emphasized to the representatives the importance of these games and also reminded them that even CAF African Football Schools Championship qualifiers will be held during these games.

The games will be the first of the kind as it has been all called Ball Games II, they come after the FEASSA Qualifier Games were held in July this year at the same venue.
