By Mukwaya Arnold

On Friday, March 7th, the Lango Zone held its inaugural Annual General Meeting (AGM) at St. Mary’s Magdalene Girls’ School in Lira City.

The event drew EXCOM members and delegates from all 9 districts and 1 city within the Lango Zone.

The Chairperson of ASSHU Lango Zone addressed the gathering, announcing that pre-verification and screening exercises will be conducted before teams report for zonal qualifiers. This measure aims to prevent non-bonafide students from participating in the championship.

Ogwal Denis, Chairman of USSSA Lango, emphasized that only registered and enrolled students on the online system will be allowed to participate. He stressed the importance of adhering to this rule.

Miriam Makeba, USSSA Northern Uganda representative, highlighted the need for centralized feeding and requested the Chairperson of ASSHU to take the lead in implementing this initiative. She also highlighted on how online transfers are done.

During the meeting a suggestion was made that classification games should be played right away from the District qualifiers and at the Zonal level.

The AGM also revealed that St. Mary’s Magdalene will host this year’s Ball Games 1 for Lango Zone, while Doctor Obote College will host the Boys’ Football tournament from April 7th to 13th.

The successful inaugural AGM sets the stage for a productive and organized year for USSSA Lango Zone.
