USSSA Products Watch: Nine Capacity Building Trainees Summoned For CAVB Refereeing Course.

The Confederation of African Volleyball CAVB National referees course is scheduled from 19th to 23rd February 2024 in Kampala city, upon completion the participants will be fully fledged National USSSA and UVF referees and will also be registered in CAVB database.

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association capacity building training no longer needs hype but it’s fruits continues to fully define the program.

From the football referees and media excellence it has now turned the page to volleyball as nine of the a thousands trained volleyball officiating officials awaits the continent badge.

At USSSA, Volleyball officiation is overseen by international referee Innocent Komaketch who like other instructors has also mentored his students and gone on to monitor their performance after the training which has helped them to perfect their duties.

Besides other three disciplines, volleyball is among the sport that has held two courses under the USSSA capacity building training (level 1 and level 2), level II was just held for it’s first time in December last year and more are to come.

The Nine Referees Summoned For The Training.

  1. Nahabwe Alfred – Engari SS (Kazo).
    He practiced during UVF league games after his 1st & 2 Level capacity building referees course. He was not officially nominated but attended the championship as a volunteer.
  2. Kobusingye Cynthia – Sport Scientist based in Kampala.
    Attended both Level 1 and 2 Capacity building referees course. She has been officiating league matches at federation level. One of the top referees among ladies.
  3. Katusabe Jackie – Teacher (Namakwa SS Mukono). Attended both level 1 and 2 capacity building referees course and shown zeal to higher levels.
  4. Akankunda Bridget – Student (Boniconsilli Girls ) Sheema.
    Attended both level 1 and 2 capacity building referees course. Practiced during Uganda Volleyball Federation Western league games in Mbarara, one of the great talents among girls.
  5. Nampeera Sherinah – student ( Namugongo Sec and Voc sch).
    Attended both level 1 and 2 capacity building referees course,she practiced during school training and league games.
  6. Ainembabazi Arnold Major – sport scientist. He was already UVF trained referee before doing capacity building referees course, he has been officiating league matches.
  7. Dramadrio Janet – Student (Jinja SS).
    Attended both Level 1 and 2 capacity building referees course and practiced with Jinja Volleyball Club during trainings. One of the strong female referees.
  8. Kimbowa Alex Alvin – Student ( St. Antonio Orthodox SS, Mukono). Attended both level 1 and 2 capacity building referees course, he practiced during National University Games last December at Uganda Christian University and also during league games.
  9. Obbo Alfred – Teacher (Brain Trust School, Nansana). He was already Uganda Volleyball Federation trained referee before attending capacity building referees course and has been officiating national league.

The development comes a few weeks after some of these referees had already showcased their prowess at the USSSA Elite Games 2024, the USSSA calendar opener which was held in Jinja City later January Jinja Secondary School and Jinja College the hosts and co hosts respectively as Bukedea Comprehensive emerged both boys and girls champions in the discipline.

“All these referees officiated under minimal supervision. Nearly all of them will attend the confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) National Referees course scheduled in Kampala 19th – 23rd February 2024. Upon successful completion of the course, they will be fully fledged National USSSA/UVF referees and will also be registered in CAVB Database.” Said Senior Volleyball Instructor and Referee Innocent Komaketch.
