The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has announced the split of Ball Games II. This is the largest championship and has attracted even more games. Just last year, the championship brought together over 7,000 participants and officials
The split has been due to the introduction of the under-16 category games and new disciplines namely mind games(Luddo, Chess, and Scrabble) which has led to the surge of participants and officials from 7,000 to over 11,000.

The FEASSSA qualifiers scheduled for July 9th to 17th at Teso College Aloet include Netball, Volleyball, Basketball 3×3, Handball, Rugby 7s, and Athletics. On the other hand, the non-FEASSSA qualifiers, taking place from September 1st to 9th, 2024 will comprise of U16 participants in (Football, Basketball 3×3, Netball, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball) DanceSport, Lacrosse, Woodball, Mind Games, Beach Soccer, and Beach Volleyball.

“One of our main aims this year is to increase participation of secondary school students in sports at the district, zonal, and National levels, referred to as mass sports.” He highlighted their participation in international school sports tournaments, including Volleyball (Belgrade, Serbia), Athletics (Nairobi, Kenya), Football (Dalian city, China), and Basketball (Macau, China).

Patrick Okanya, President Emeritus USSSA and Head of Capacity Building Training Program, emphasized their focus on capacity building, giving examples of referees who have had a chance to officiate at national championships and international engagements, including the ISF World Schools Cup in Dalian, China.

FEASSSA GAMES IN BUKEDEA 2024
This year’s FEASSSA games will be hosted in Uganda at Bukedea Comprehensive and Amus College School in Eastern Uganda.
The president noted that preparations are underway and the swimming pool is 95 percent complete and assured everyone of a successful championship.
The construction of a swimming pool at Bukedea Comprehensive while the stadium is at Amus College School. ISF President, Laurent Petrynka is expected to be present at the event, and dignitaries from the Federation of Africa School Sports(FASS).
