USSSA-UPPSA to form Uganda Sports Schools Association.

The two associations have concluded a two day retreat at the Frontpage Hotel along Entebbe road.

This retreat is the beginning to unifying school sports in Uganda.The retreat was attended by the executive committee members of both Uganda secondary schools sports Association (USSSA) and Uganda Primary School Sports Association (UPSSA).

The sessions were held under the supervision of Reverend Canon Dr. Duncans Mugumya,Commissioner Physical Education and Sports(PES) ,Ministry of Education and Sports.

There were two facilitators, namely Dr. Ssajjabi Vincent, an economist and lecturer at Makerere University and Counsel Norbert Ssali – Senior Research Officer Ministry of Education and Sports.

Dr. Ssajjabi’s presentation took the participants through effective governance culture in sports and associations while Ssali Nobert presented the draft constitution of the Uganda School sports Association.

Title:School sports reforms and innovations 2026.

The 20-page document proposes a collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), USSSA, and UPSSA to form a single school sports body.

Key points include the following:-

The association aims to create a unified sports body for better organization.-Collaboration will ensure a uniform calendar,talent development, and infrastructure development.

-Introduction of a uniform online registration system (with biometrics)-Centralized feeding accommodation and gender separation.

-Competitions to be managed centrally with a competent secretariat,clear rules,fair officiating and media coverage

-Team Structure:Advocates for school teams over select teams(districts) or both for visibility,funding and development.-Joint to grow number for the Special Needs Education athletes.

-A home for the association with dedicated pitches,courts,hostels offices and more as inspired by the Dalian Youth Sports Centre in China.
