Day three of the USSSA capacity building program is underway, and one participant is making waves with her determination and enthusiasm. Meet Becky Beleta, a 12-year-old Primary Six (P6) student from Bright Star Primary School in Koboko, who is taking the refereeing world by storm.
Becky’s journey to becoming a referee began when she realized that her school lacked referees. She convinced her mother to let her attend the USSSA capacity building program, and now she’s soaking up every bit of knowledge and experience like a sponge.
As she takes to the field for practical exercises, Becky exudes confidence and purpose. She’s determined to make a difference in her school’s sports scene, one refereeing decision at a time. Her passion for refereeing is evident in the way she blows her whistle, her eyes scanning the field for any signs of fouls or misconduct.
Becky’s instructors are taking notice of her quick learning and natural talent. “Keep up the good work, Becky!” one of them calls out as she blows her whistle to call a foul. “You’re a natural!” The encouragement from her instructors has boosted her confidence, and she’s now more determined than ever to succeed as a referee.
Becky’s inspiration comes from the referees she watches on TV. She’s fascinated by their confidence, authority, and decision-making skills. She’s now one step closer to joining their ranks, and she’s not letting anything get in her way.
As the USSSA capacity building program continues, Becky is learning new skills and gaining valuable experience. She’s making new friends and connections, and she’s becoming more confident in her abilities. One thing is clear: Becky Beleta is a young referee in the making, and she’s going to make a big impact in the world of sports.
The USSSA capacity building program is providing Becky with the perfect platform to develop her skills and pursue her passion for refereeing. With her determination, enthusiasm, and natural talent, there’s no doubt that Becky will become a top-notch referee in the years to come.
The Westnile center attracted 86 participants with 31 in football coaching and 55 in refereeing. It will run up to 17th of this month.
