Zara Mbanga happy to set new swimming national record in Serbia.

Zara Mbanga lowered the national short course (25m) record in the 100m backstroke to 1:10.68 at the U-15 World School Games in Serbia on Monday 7th April 2025.

“I feel great to break a national record that has been there for a while now and i look forward to breaking more.” Zara Marie Mbanga,Swimmer.

The 13 year old swimmer is representing Seroma Christian High School and Uganda at the Games. She is also swimming in the 13-14 year old girls’ age group.

Mbanga, who trains with Jaguar Swim Club, had initially clocked 1:11.01 in the preliminaries to snatch the record from national team colleague Paloma Kirabo. But went on to lower it further in the finals.

Kirabo had put the record at 1:11.53 during the Africa Aquatics Zone III Championships in Burundi last November.
