The battle for qualification to the National stage in Bugisu zone came to an end as the representatives for the Fresh Dairy Secondary School games and National Boys Football championship were confirmed.
Crowds were entertained to the brim with both boys and girls football champions determined via penalty shootouts.
In the girls final, Highway SS and Nkoma SS played out a one-all draw before Highway SS got the better of the latter winning 6-5 on penalties.
On their route to the final, Highway SS eased past Magale SS whereas Nkoma SS defeated Bugisu HS 3-2 on penalties after having played a goalless draw in regular time. Magale SS lost 3-0 to Bugisu HS in the third place play off.
Nkoma SS won the boys gold after defeating Mbale Progressive 8-7 on penalties in a game that also ended 0-0 in normal time.
Ssironko SS put three past Edward SS to seal their 3rd place in Bugisu zone.
Who represents Bugisu at the Nationals?
Bugisu zone has 3 slots for the boys and two for the girls to represent them in Masaka and Ndejje respectively.
Therefore, champion Nkoma SS will be joined by Ssironko and Mbale Progressive in Masaka while Highway SS and Nkoma will lift Bugisu flag in Ndejje.
