Amus College School secured a hard fought 1-0 victory against Ryakasinga in the ongoing 2024 USSSA Games at St Kitovu ground one on Saturday evening.
Hakim Musaba broke the deadlock in the 65th minute with a simple tap in after Ryakasinga’s custodian failed to grip a long range free kick.
Amus College created several chances but were not lethal enough and found themselves struggling to take the lead in a game they had an upper hand.
After the full-time whistle, Amus head coach Nimrod Kintu revealed that amidst a poor start the target for this year’s championship is to lift the trophy.
“We did not have the best game today but what matters is attaining maximum points,” Kintu told USSSA Media.
“We shall continue preparing the boys because I know how good they are. I will continue to remind you that this year we want the trophy,” he added.
“If we managed to reach the semifinals last year, then we only have to work on our mistakes and see that we perform better because we have all it takes.”
Amus will return to action on day two as they take on Madox Secondary School at Sports Arena.
