The USSSA 2026 National And International School Sports Competitions Calendar

Kampala, Uganda – Tuesday, January 27, 2026 – We are excited to officially share our comprehensive 2026 National and International School Sports Competitions Calendar, outlining a packed year of competitive, developmental, and inclusive school sports activities across the country and on the global stage.

The 2026 calendar features a wide range of championships designed to promote talent development, participation, and excellence among secondary school students. The season will open with the Elite Secondary School Games scheduled for 26th February to 1st March 2026 at Janan Secondary School, Bombo, bringing together the top eight teams from the previous championships across multiple disciplines.

This will be followed by the Secondary School National Ball Games I Championship from 29th April to 9th May 2026 at Seroma Christian High School, Mukono. The National Football Boys’ Finals will then take place from 10th to 20th May 2026 at Lira Town College, Lira.

The National Swimming Gala will be held from 28th to 30th June 2026 at Seroma Christian High School, while the climax of the national season will be the National Ball Games II, Athletics and Mind Games Championship scheduled for 8th to 18th July 2026 at Sacred Heart Secondary School, Gulu. This flagship championship will feature over 20 disciplines, including athletics, rugby 7s, beach sports, mind games, DanceSport, and several demonstration sports.

Commenting on the release of the calendar, the USSSA Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Mugisha Banange, emphasized the Association’s commitment to structured school sports development.

On the international front, Uganda will be represented in several International School Sport Federation (ISF) events in 2026, including World School Championships in Handball, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Golf, and the ISF Gymnasiade, providing student-athletes with global exposure and competitive experience.

USSSA calls upon schools, partners, parents, and the general public to support and engage in school sports as a tool for education, unity, and national development.
