The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has officially announced an open call for applications to fill positions on its Sports Technical Commissions for the 2026–2028 term. The appointment exercise seeks qualified and experienced sports professionals to serve as Chairpersons and Members across various sporting disciplines under the association.
The commissions play a critical role in the development, management, and technical advancement of school sports in Uganda. Through these appointments, USSSA aims to strengthen governance structures, enhance technical expertise, and support the continued growth of school sports at both secondary and Special Needs Education (SNE) levels.
Wide Range of Sports Disciplines
Applications are open for Chairperson and Member positions in 28 secondary school sports disciplines, including Football, Athletics, Volleyball, Basketball, Netball, Rugby, Cricket, Hockey, Handball, Tennis, Swimming, Beach Soccer, Futsal, Golf, Lacrosse, Pickle Ball, Kho Kho, Kabaddi, and several others. The association is also inviting applications for SNE sports commissions covering Para Athletics, Para Swimming, Sit Volleyball, Show Down, Hi-Soccer, and Goalball.
Eligibility Requirements
USSSA has outlined clear criteria for prospective applicants. Candidates must:
- Be professional secondary school teachers.
- Possess recognized technical qualifications in the sport they are applying for, certified by the relevant National Sports Federation or Association.
- Be recommended by a USSSA Member Association, a member institution of USSSA, or a recognized National Sports Federation.
In addition, every application must be accompanied by a Motivation Letter and an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV).
Composition of the Commissions
Each Sports Technical Commission will comprise:
- One (1) Chairperson
- Two (2) Members
USSSA has emphasized that at least one member of each commission must be female, reflecting the association’s commitment to gender inclusion in sports leadership.
The successful candidates will be appointed by the USSSA Executive Committee for a two-year term, after which they may be considered for reappointment.
Application Deadline
Interested and eligible candidates are encouraged to submit their applications before 3rd October 2026 at 11:59 PM. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
