Uganda made a perfect start to the CAF Africa Schools Football Championship CECAFA Qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda, as Amus College School secured victories in all four of their opening-day matches across the boys’ and girls’ competitions.
The CECAFA regional qualifiers kicked off on Thursday, with the boys’ competition taking place at the FERWAFA Sports Complex, while the girls’ matches were hosted at Kigali Pele Stadium.
Representing Uganda in both categories, Amus College School immediately underlined their ambitions, collecting maximum points from their opening two group matches in each competition.

In the girls’ competition, Uganda began their campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Burundi before edging hosts Rwanda 1-0 in their second fixture.
The boys followed suit with a 1-0 win over South Sudan in their opening match before producing a commanding 3-0 victory against Burundi to complete a flawless opening day.

The four victories put both Ugandan teams in a strong position heading into their final group-stage matches on Friday morning.
The boys will face Somalia, while the girls will take on South Sudan, with both teams targeting results that would secure their progression to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday evening, followed by the third-place play-off and finals on Saturday afternoon.
Having opened the tournament with four wins from four matches, Amus College will now look to maintain their momentum and secure Uganda a place in both finals as the race for regional qualification intensifies in Kigali.
