Uganda’s school football teams opened their FEASSA Games 2026 campaign on a positive note, with several sides recording important victories and historic results on the opening day of competition in Morogoro, Tanzania.
The opening day produced a mixture of victories and draws for Uganda, with Rines SS and Kyaddondo SS making memorable starts to their FEASSA journey, while Amus College secured wins in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions.
BOYS’ FOOTBALL
Kyaddondo SS made a historic start to their FEASSA campaign, defeating Kenya’s Kakamega High School 2–1.
The victory was particularly significant for Kyaddondo SS as it marked their first-ever win at the FEASSA Games, having made their debut at the regional championship this year.
Amus College also started their boys’ campaign with a victory, defeating Tanzania’s Mbeeya 1–0 in a closely contested encounter. The result gives the Ugandan side three valuable points as they begin their pursuit of regional honours.
St Mary’s Kitende also registered a winning start, edging Kenya’s St Mary’s Yala 1–0. Kitende will, however, have to wait until Monday for their next fixture as they return to action at 2:00 PM.
Bukedea Comprehensive School was the only Ugandan boys’ side that did not register a victory on the opening day. They played out an entertaining 2–2 draw against Tanzania’s Urambo Day Secondary School to pick up a point.
Bukedea will now face fellow Ugandan side Kyaddondo SS tomorrow at 1:00 PM in an eagerly anticipated Ugandan derby. The encounter will provide another opportunity for both teams to strengthen their position in the competition, with Kyaddondo looking to build on their historic opening-day victory while Bukedea will be seeking their first win.
GIRLS’ FOOTBALL
Rines SS also made history on the opening day, recording their first-ever FEASSA victory after defeating Ziba 1–0.
The historic result provides Rines with a strong foundation as they continue their maiden FEASSA campaign and will be a major boost to the team ahead of their next assignment.
Amus College completed a successful opening day for their girls’ side with a 1–0 victory over Boni Concilii Girls Vocational Secondary School in an all-Ugandan derby.
The closely contested encounter went Amus’ way as they secured maximum points and an important victory against fellow Ugandan opposition.
Jinja Progressive Academy also began their campaign with a point after drawing 1–1 with Kenya’s Nyakach Girls. The result marks Jinja Progressive Academy’s first-ever point at the FEASSA Games and gives them a positive platform to build on in their next fixtures.
TOMORROW’S FIXTURES
The competition continues tomorrow with Uganda’s teams returning to action across both the boys’ and girls’ football competitions.
In the boys’ competition, Bukedea Comprehensive School will face Kyaddondo SS at 1:00 PM in an all-Ugandan derby. The match is expected to attract considerable attention as both sides battle for an important result.
Amus College will also be in action at 3:00 PM against IPTEM Makamba, with the Ugandan side looking to maintain its winning momentum after securing a 1–0 victory over Tanzania’s Mbeeya on the opening day.
St Mary’s Kitende will not play tomorrow and will return to action on Monday at 2:00 PM.
In the girls’ competition, Amus College will face St Joseph’s Kitale in a morning fixture as they look to follow up their opening-day victory over Boni Concilii.
Boni Concilii Girls Vocational Secondary School will also return to action at 11:00 AM against Kilombero, while Jinja Progressive Academy face Fountain Gate at 11:00 AM.
Rines SS, fresh from their historic first FEASSA victory, will complete Uganda’s girls’ football fixtures for the day when they take on Nyakach Girls at 3:00 PM.
With several Ugandan teams already off the mark, tomorrow’s fixtures will provide another important opportunity for the country’s representatives to strengthen their campaigns and continue the pursuit of success at the FEASSA Games 2026.
