Gombe Secondary School and Mbogo Mixed Secondary School were crowned the girls’ and boys’ handball champions respectively after thrilling finals at the USSSA Ball Games II 2026 in Gulu.
The girls’ final saw Gombe Secondary School defeat Wampeewo Ntake Secondary School 15-12 to claim the national title, while Mbogo Mixed Secondary School edged Wampeewo Ntake Secondary School 14-13 in a dramatic boys’ final to lift the championship.
The tournament also recognized outstanding individual performers. Gombe Secondary School’s Shakira Abdallah Aziz was named the Girls’ Most Valuable Player (MVP) after an exceptional campaign that inspired her side to the title.
In the boys’ category, Mbogo Mixed Secondary School’s Birwoth Gerald Phillips was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) following his outstanding performances throughout the tournament.
With the competition concluded, the top three schools in each category have earned qualification to represent Uganda at the FEASSA Games.
