The U17 football competition at the USSSA BallGames II National Championship in Gulu continued to gather momentum with another exciting round of matches, producing impressive performances and closely contested encounters across both the boys’ and girls’ categories.
Kyadondo SS registered one of the biggest results in the boys’ division, edging St. Henry’s College Kitovu 1-0 in a tightly contested fixture. Seroma Christian High School also impressed with a convincing 4-1 victory over St. Austine, while Mayuge High School defeated Apopong SS 3-1.
Paul and Pauline SS claimed a comfortable 3-0 win against Ocer Companion SS before Lubiri SS secured back-to-back victories, overcoming Hope SS Nakirebe 2-1 and later defeating Paul and Pauline SS 1-0.
St. Charles SS Bujuku defeated St. Leo’s College Kyegobe 2-0, while Standard High School Zana and Bukomansimbi SS played out a goalless draw. Panyadoli Self Help B and Al Noor Islamic SS also shared the spoils in a 0-0 stalemate.
St. Michael International School edged St. Mary’s College Lugazi 1-0, with Lira Town College and Muntunyera High School also settling for a goalless draw. Munjasi High School and Nkoma SS finished 1-1 before Lira Town College later defeated Nkoma SS 3-1.
Bugishu High School enjoyed a productive outing, defeating Fort Portal SS 2-0 before overcoming Kifamba Comprehensive School by the same scoreline. Their final match against Buddo SS ended goalless. Buddo SS, meanwhile, maintained their strong form with commanding 3-0 victories over Kashenyi SS.
Jinja Progressive Academy edged St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School 3-2 in one of the day’s most entertaining fixtures. Kisiita Modern SS defeated Mulusa Academy Wobulenzi 2-0 before later falling 1-0 to St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School. Paorinher SS also claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Mulusa Academy Wobulenzi.
Dynamic SS drew 1-1 with St. Henry’s College Kitovu before producing one of the standout performances of the day with a commanding 7-1 victory over Ruhinda SS. Busabala Islamic had earlier beaten Ruhinda SS 2-1.
Elsewhere, Savana SS defeated St. Peter’s College Tororo 2-0, Kitara SS edged St. Charles SS Bujuku 1-0, Greenlight Islamic School thrashed Hope Secondary School Nakirebe 6-0, Ibunbaz Boys cruised to a 4-0 victory over Munjasi High School, and St. Austine recovered from their opening defeat to edge Kigarare SSS 1-0 after Kigarare had earlier drawn 2-2 with Kabalega SS.
In the girls’ competition, Kashenshero Girls SS defeated Wampeewo Ntake SS 2-0, while Mt. Zion High School secured a similar 2-0 victory over Kashenyi SS.
Kawempe Muslim Secondary School edged Tororo Girls School 1-0, Bweranyangi Girls High School claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Nakanyonyi SS, and St. Mary’s Assumpta Girls shared the points with Wampeewo Ntake SS in a goalless draw.
The biggest result in the girls’ category came as Highway SS Kiganda stormed to a resounding 10-0 victory over Trinity College Nabbingo. Kongunga High School and Kibingo Girls Secondary School played out a 0-0 draw, Sacred Heart SS defeated Giant SS Bukinda 2-0, Masaka SS and Bwizi SS settled for a goalless stalemate, while Kyabugimbi SS and Kiryandongo High School drew 1-1.
