Three Ugandan Teams Storm Girls Football Semi Finals

By: John Wycliffe Musinguzi

Three Ugandan schools have stormed the semi-finals of the girls’ football competition at the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, giving Uganda a strong chance of lifting the regional title.

Rines Secondary School, Amus College School and Boni Consili Vocational and Secondary School all progressed to the last four after impressive group-stage campaigns. Their qualification means Uganda occupies three of the four available semi-final slots.

The semi-final line-up will see an all-Ugandan battle between Rines Secondary School and Boni Consili, while Amus College School will face Rwanda’s PSB Huye.

Rines have been particularly impressive, finishing Group A at the top with 12 points from five matches. The reigning Uganda national girls’ football champions recorded four victories, including wins over Tanzania’s Fountain Gate and ZIBA, as well as Kenya’s Nyakach Girls and fellow Ugandan side Jinja Progressive Academy.

Amus College topped Group B with eight points after an unbeaten campaign. The Bukedea-based school registered two victories and two draws, scoring three goals and conceding none according to the final standings. Their campaign included a 2–0 victory over Tanzania’s Alliance High School and a goalless draw against Kenya’s St Joseph’s Girls Kitale.

Boni Consili also secured a place in the semi-finals after finishing second in Group B with seven points. The Ugandan side recorded two wins, one draw and one defeat, with a goal difference of +3. They also registered a convincing 3–0 victory over Tanzania’s Kilombero Secondary School during the group stage.

The final semi-final pairing means Uganda is guaranteed a representative in the final, with Rines and Boni Consili meeting in an all-Ugandan contest. Amus College, meanwhile, will have to overcome PSB Huye to ensure an all-Ugandan final.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Friday, 21 August, with the FEASSA Games set to climax on Saturday.

Uganda’s dominance in the girls’ football semi-finals comes as another strong statement from the country’s school sports programme. With three of the four remaining teams carrying the Ugandan flag, the country is now assured of a place in the final and has a major opportunity to claim the regional crown.
