Uganda’s contingent of athletes, coaches, managers, technical officials and support staff arrives in Morogoro, Tanzania, for the 2026 Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games. The delegation brings together 1,304 athletes, 127 officials drawn from 66 schools and institutions, all carrying the nation’s hopes of extending its dominance in East African school sports.
Uganda enters the championship as the defending overall secondary schools champion and the most successful nation in recent FEASSA history. The country has won the overall secondary schools title for five consecutive editions, making the Morogoro Games an opportunity to secure a historic sixth straight championship.

The 2025 FEASSA Games in Kakamega, Kenya attracted a record 4,072 participants from six countries. Uganda fielded the second-largest delegation behind host Kenya and emerged as the overall secondary schools champion after winning more gold medals than any other nation.

Despite Kenya winning more total medals, Uganda secured the overall title by winning the highest number of gold medals. Following a successful petition after the games, FEASSA officially confirmed Uganda as the rightful overall champion with 15 gold medals compared to Kenya’s 13.

Team Uganda 2026
Uganda’s 2026 contingent features some of the country’s most successful sports schools, including St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende, Amus College School, Kibuli Secondary School, Nabisunsa Girls School, Bukedea Comprehensive School, Ntare School, Namilyango College, Mbarara High School, Makerere College School, Seroma Christian School, Sacred Heart Secondary School, Jinja Secondary School and many others.
The delegation will compete in over 20 disciplines, including football, basketball (3×3 and 5×5), volleyball, rugby, hockey, handball, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, swimming, athletics, chess, scrabble, cricket, lacrosse, beach soccer and beach volleyball.
The team also includes representatives from primary schools and Special Needs Education institutions, Swimming and Athletics National Teams reflecting Uganda’s commitment to inclusive participation and talent development.
Chasing a Sixth Consecutive Crown
Uganda’s school sports system continues to produce some of East Africa’s finest young athletes. Through USSSA competitions, capacity-building programs, talent identification pathways and regional championships, the country has established itself as the benchmark for school sports excellence in the region.
As the games get underway in Morogoro this Friday 14th August 2026, Team Uganda will be aiming to add another chapter to its notable FEASSA legacy. Having won five consecutive overall secondary schools titles and collected 15 gold medals at the last championship, the mission is clear: defend the crown, make history with a sixth consecutive title, and once again prove that Uganda remains the powerhouse of East African school sports.
