Busoga College Mwiri, Sacred Heart Win at FEASSA
Ugandan sides representing the country in cricket bounced back from their opening-day losses, with both Busoga College Mwiri and Sacred Heart recording victories on Monday.
After a two-day break, the teams returned to action at Sokoine University of Agriculture.
Busoga College Mwiri 74 all out, Gairo 59 all out
Mwiri faced Tanzania’s Gairo, who won the toss and elected to bowl.
Mwiri were bowled out for 74 runs in 15.2 overs of their allotted 20 overs. Gairo’s chase ended at 59 all out in 15 overs, handing Mwiri a 15-run victory.
Captain Oketcho Jordan, vice-captain Kisubi Martin and Kisira Joshua picked up two wickets each, while Okoth Joel claimed three wickets.
Mwiri will be back in action on Tuesday against Kenyan side Arya, with the match scheduled for 11:50am.
Sacred Heart SS Gulu continued Uganda’s winning run at FEASSA with a convincing nine-wicket victory over Kenya’s Namasoli.
Namasoli struggled to post a competitive total, managing just 34 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
Sacred Heart made light work of the chase, with Hanifa Noreen and Lakica Okema combining for an unbeaten 28 runs, with each batter hitting a boundary.
Sacred Heart reached the target in just three overs, winning by nine wickets.
The Gulu side will be back in action on Tuesday at 8:30am against another Kenyan side, Mwangaza.
