This year’s championship has drawn 8000 visitors; 6000 of these are participants and over 2000 of them officials.
Namilyango College suffered another heavy defeat, this time against Kenya’s Upper Hill. Despite the result, the Namilyango captain remains positive, saying the youngsters are focused on learning from the experience and enjoying the tournament.
Cricket’s inclusion marks another milestone for FEASSA. The sport was previously featured only as a demonstration sport at the 2025 Games in Kakamega, Kenya, where Uganda was represented by Ntare School and Sacred Heart SS Gulu.
Jinja SS opened their FEASSA Games 2026 campaign in emphatic fashion, crushing Tanzania’s Elerai 31-0 in the boys’ fifteens at the main campus of Sokoine University, Morogoro.
Uganda is travelling to Tanzania with a delegation comprising 127 teams from 67 schools, including eight Special Needs Education (SNE) schools and eight primary schools. The delegation comprises 1,304 secondary school participants, 160 primary pupils and 72 SNE students.
The draw ceremony was attended by George Omondi, representing Kenya, Margaret Harriet Apolot representing Uganda on the FEASSA Executive, FEASSA Organizing Secretary Ayub Khalifan Kiyingi, and Senior Education Officer Abalo Grace from Uganda’s Ministry of Education and Sports.
The team will continue with intensive training throughout the final week of camp before departing for Morogoro, where Uganda will compete against other East African nations at the 2026 FEASSA Games.
Representatives from FEASSA member countries are expected to take part in the draw, which is a key milestone in the countdown to East Africa’s premier schools’ sporting event.
