Uganda Athletics Team Intensifies Preparations Ahead of FEASSA Games

The Uganda athletics team has intensified preparations for the upcoming Federation of East Africa School Sports Association (FESA) Games, which will be held from 13th to 23rd August 2026 in Morogoro, Tanzania.

The team, started residential camp last week, is currently training at Kids of Africa in Entebbe as athletes continue to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the regional championship. With the games fast approaching, the camp has entered its final week, with coaches focusing on fitness, technical execution and team readiness.

Speaking after eight days in camp, Team Manager James Mawa thanked the Government of Uganda and the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) for providing the athletes with an opportunity to camp and prepare adequately before the championship.

“This residential camp has given our athletes the opportunity to train together and prepare well for the competition. We appreciate the Government and USSSA for investing in these young athletes and making these preparations possible,” Mawa James said.

Head Coach Raphael Kasajja noted that the start of the camp was slightly affected by the delayed arrival of some participants, particularly those from the primary school category. However, he confirmed that all athletes have now reported to camp and training is progressing well.

“We experienced delays because some participants, especially those from the primary section, arrived later than expected. The good thing is that everyone is now in camp, and we are making the most of the remaining days to ensure the team is fully prepared,” Kasajja explained.

The team will continue with intensive training throughout the final week of camp before departing for Morogoro, where Uganda will compete against other East African nations at the 2026 FEASSA Games.
