Mind Games Battle Continues At Sacred Heart SS Gulu

By Nassamula Doreen Patience

The USSSA Ball Games II mind games competition continued on 13th July 2026, marking day five of the tournament at Sacred Heart SS Gulu. Schools competed in chess, ludo, and scrabble as players stayed focused, working hard to earn qualification places for the next stage.

Ludo was silent at first, but the pressure turned it loud. In a tense match, students of St. John’s SS Nyabwiina played against Kashaka Girls. Full time ended in a draw, and the game went to penalty shootouts. Both sides prayed for a win, but disappointment followed as Kashaka Girls were knocked out.

On the side of chess boards, boys’ giants St. Henry’s College Kitovu had tough moments against Wampewo SS Ntake who showed they didn’t come to joke. Every move mattered as players tried to outsmart their opponents making many contests close and exciting. Coaches and teammates stayed close by offering support and encouragement throughout.

Scrabble players also felt the heat as the race for the titles got more competitive. With more matches still to be played on Tuesday schools will be aiming to maintain their good performances and secure a place in the next round.
