The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Weekend Beach Soccer League returned this weekend with six exciting matches as Match Day Two was successfully held at Bamboo Gardens in Kasanje.
Tagy High School dominated the girls’ category, while Mukono Kings emerged as the standout team in the boys’ category after both sides registered two victories each.
The USSSA Weekend Leagues were introduced in 2024, with Wakiso becoming the first district to implement the initiative. Since then, the programme has expanded to different parts of the country.
Initially launched with only boys’ football, the initiative has steadily grown to include other sports. In Nansana, where another season was launched this year, girls’ football has also been introduced alongside the National Beach Soccer League.
The initiative is aimed at giving student-athletes more playing time, one of the key principles of player development.
The USSSA Weekend Beach Soccer League was officially launched on 7 June 2026 at Bamboo Gardens in Kasanje, with ten teams participating on Match Day One.
Action continued on Match Day Two with six teams in action. Lake View High School, Mukono Kings High School, and Tagy High School each fielded teams in both the girls’ and boys’ categories.
Tagy High School won both of their matches to top the girls’ standings, while Mukono Kings also secured two victories to dominate the boys’ category.
