

Round of 16 Drama Sets Up Much Anticipated Quarter-Finals at USSSA Girls Football
The USSSA Girls Football Ball Games I Championship delivered a thrilling round of 16 on Monday, producing emphatic wins, tense penalty shootouts, and tightly contested battles as the competition now shifts focus to a mouth-watering quarter-final lineup at UCU Stadium.
Kawempe Muslim Secondary School were among the standout performers of the round, brushing aside St Charles Lwanga Kasasa 4–1 in a commanding display. All their goals came in a blistering first-half performance, with Belinda Hope Nabawanuka striking as early as the first minute before Kevin Nanyunja netted a brace. Shadia Nabirye also got on the scoresheet to seal a dominant outing, despite a late consolation from Happy Jackie Josephine.
Boni Consillii, on the other hand, had to grind for their place in the last eight, edging Jinja Comprehensive School 1–0 in a tense affair at Nakisunga Playground. Their discipline and resilience paid off as they booked a date with Jinja Progressive Academy.
Elsewhere, St Noa Girls made light work of Moyo Star High with a 5–0 victory, while Latifah Mixed Secondary held their nerve to eliminate Uganda Martyrs High School via a penalty shootout following a 2–2 draw. Rines SS secured a comfortable 2–0 win over Nkoma SS, and Jinja Progressive Academy impressed with a 4–1 triumph against Kashenshero.
Bukedea Comprehensive added to the drama of the round by knocking out Standard High School Zana on penalties after a 1–1 stalemate, while Amus College registered the biggest win of the day, thrashing Sacred Heart Gulu 6–0.



With the dust settled on an action-packed round of 16, attention now turns to the quarter-finals, where high-stakes encounters promise even more intensity. Kawempe Muslim will face Rines SS in one of the headline fixtures, while Latifah Mixed Secondary take on St Noa Girls in another heavyweight clash.
Boni Consillii will battle Jinja Progressive Academy, and Bukedea Comprehensive’s reward for their dramatic qualification is a tough test against Amus College.
All quarter-final matches will be played at UCU Stadium as the race for national glory tightens.
