


A meeting has been held at the USSSA an UPSSA offices in old Kampala this afternoon to discuss the increment of sports disciplines under the primary schools in Federation of East Africa School Sports Associations games (FEASSA).
The meeting chaired by Rev. Canon Dr. Canon Duncans Mugumya, Commissioner, Physical Education and Sports, Ministry of Education and Sports has been attended by both Association Presidents ,Mugisha Justus (President USSSA) while Musigire Pauline,the first Vice President of Uganda Primary Schools Sports Association(UPSSA).
Okanya Patrick , USSSA President Emeritus, Ayub Khalifa (USSSA Executive committee member and head of Technical FEASSA),Mugisha Christopher Banage, CEO USSSA, USSSA staff and directors Omaria Bosco and Kasakya Emmanuel ,Aguti Angela also attended the meeting.Orikiriza Gilbert (PES),Kagolo Sarah and Tumwesigye Innocent were the two representatives from the UPSSA executive.
Previously Primary schools (at FEASSA) level have been participating in four disciplines, namely football, netball, volleyball and athletics. However, starting 2026 three disciplines have, been added and these are Basketball, Handball and cross-country.
“A communication will be made to schools through their respective local governments /Chief Administrative officers and District Education Officers”. Rev. Canon Dr. Duncans Mugumya , Commissioner PES,Ministry of Education and Sports.
Points to Note
-Increased number of events from four to seven
-There will be three overall trophies for all secondary, primary and SNEs
“We have to work together with the Ministry through the Commissioner to increase financing for these teams(Primary)” Mugisha Justus, President USSSA.
