The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Nansana Zone is set to officially launch Season 3 of the USSSA Weekend League, an initiative designed to keep student-athletes active and competitive outside the regular school sports calendar.
The launch ceremony will be graced by the Chief Executive Officer of USSSA, Mr. Christopher Mugisha, who will serve as the Chief Guest.
The USSSA Weekend League was introduced as a platform to provide continuous competition for neighbouring schools while promoting talent development in a cost-effective manner. Beyond benefiting student-athletes, the league also serves as a practical training ground for aspiring referees, coaches, and other sports administrators to sharpen their skills through regular match experience.
By bringing together schools within the same zone, the league significantly reduces travel distances and operational costs, making participation more affordable for schools and other stakeholders.
The opening day will feature two exciting football fixtures. In the girls’ match, Alliance High School will take on St. Raphael Future Bells. The boys’ fixture will see London College face Oxford High School in what promises to be an entertaining encounter.
As part of the launch celebrations, schools that participated in Season 2 of the Weekend League will also receive their official jerseys in recognition of their commitment and participation.
