Mind Games Final games decided in Drama and pressure as Schools Qualify for FEASSA.

By Nassamula Doreen Patience

The USSSA Ball Games II mind games came to a thrilling close today, with chess, ludo, and scrabble all producing finalists who will now represent their schools at FEASSA.

The ludo side penalties decided almost everything since the games were so tense and some trams wouldn’t win at fulltime so resulted into penalty shoot outs. Most matches were so close so they ended in penalty shootouts. Students who had struggled to roll a “sixes” during normal play suddenly started rolling “sixes” in penalty shoot outs when it didn’t matter at all. Those crucial sixes ruled the day and sent teams through.
It was heartbreak for some and celebration for others but every player gave in their all.

On the side of chess, St. Andrew’s Kaggwa Gombe SS’s girls dominated the chess boards on every board they went on and this sealed their qualifications.
On the boys’ side, St. Henry’s College Kitovu were sharp but those of Wampeewo Ntake were sharper.

Scrabble players also felt the heat. Though full details are still being compiled, the competition was fierce and every point counted. The top spellers have now earned their place to compete at the next level.

Congratulations to all schools and students who have qualified for FEASSA. Your focus, patience, and fighting spirit today showed what mind games are all about. The journey continues now it’s time to represent Uganda at FEASSA
