Games tipped off at 9am at UCU Mukono, a day that we witnessed so many comebacks.
Hope SS Watoto played Amus College, led in the first quarter and by halftime the scores were tied 28-28. Amus pushed harder and final scores were Watoto 45 – 58.
In another Quarter finals game, St Cyprian Kyabakadde easily cruised past Jinja SSS to secure a slot in the Semis, final scores 52 – 38.
In the third Quarter finals, the hosts Seroma CHS got a shock after leading the game almost all through, only for Seeta to take the lead with less than a minute on the clock. Final scores were 44 – 43, Seroma bowed out by one.
In the last Quarter finals game for the day, St Michael HS Sonde boys, small and relatively short, out hustled the big and tall Kibuli SS boys to proceed to the Semis.
In the first Semi finals, Seeta High ‘A’ led with a 20-point lead only to blow it away late in the game and lose 51-47 to St Michael HS Sonde. Sonde came to life in the 4th quarter and scored 20 points including several crucial free throws, as opposed to Seeta’s 8 points in the last quarter.
In the last Semi finals of the day, St Cyprian Kyabakadde faced off with Amus College. The game went neck to neck with multiple lead changes. Amus managed to get St Cyprian in foul trouble and in the last minutes stayed ahead to win the game narrowly 54 – 50. The game was decided with only 3 seconds to go.
Finals will be played tomorrow at Seroma CHS, the host for this year’s edition of USSSA Ball Games I, starting at 10am.
Finalists have already qualified for FEASSA, which will be held in Morogoro, Tanzania in August, and will be joined by the second runners-up.
