Cricket Makes Debut At USSSA Ball Games II In Gulu.

The first game of Cricket was played at St. Joseph’s College Layibi in Gulu.

Busoga College Mwiri and Ngora High are the two boys’ schools that are in Gulu while Light SS and Sacred Heart Gulu will represent the girls.

Match 1:
Ngora High school won the toss and elected to bowl.

Busoga College Mwiri were 171/3 in 17 overs.
Ngora High School were 29 all out in 10.3 overs.

Busoga College Mwiri won by 142 runs.

Mwiri’s Kisira Joshua was the Player of the match after scoring 74 runs off 52 balls not out.

This was Ngora High first competitive match of cricket having started playing the game just a month ago according to the boys from Teso Zone.

Match 2:
Ngora High School won the toss and elected to bat.

Ngora High set forty nine runs for the loss of nine wickets in 15 overs.
Busoga College Mwiri chased these in 8.4 overs losing three wickets to win by three wickets

The boys will play two more games against each other and the whoever wins best of three will be crowned champion.

What the captains had to say:
Busoga College Mwiri’s Kisubi Martin “Today’s games were both good.The opponents were also good but we must maintain our standards as Mwiri so we must always perform at our very best”.

Ngora High School’s Ekiba Solomon Ekiba Solomon,”It is the first time to face a hard team like Mwiri.The first game was tough but I can see my boys improved in the second game.We will work as a team going forward and give our best”.

The girls will also play 4 games between themselves.

Cricket is one of the demonstrations at this year’s Ball Games II.Other games are Kho Kho,Kabaddi and Pickle ball.
