


St. Mark High School Wins First Mukono Zonal Qualifiers

The Mukono Zone Qualifiers were held at St Mark HS Kayunga from 16th to 19th April 2026.
Teams that competed had qualified from the four districts that make up the zone: Mukono, Buikwe, Kayunga, and Buvuma.
In boys’ football, St Mark HS Kayunga won gold on home ground after beating Mehta SS 1-0 in the final, clinching their first-ever zonal trophy. Seroma CHS finished third and took bronze.
In the girls’ category, Mukono Kings HS won gold after beating Latifah Mixed SS 1-0 in the final. Hopeful Future SS finished third.
The Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony was Madam Harriet Apolot, 3rd Vice President of USSSA. Other dignitaries included Rotarian Aaron Bukenya, founder of St Mark HS Kayunga.
Only the top three teams in each category qualified to represent Mukono Zone at the national level. The girls will compete at Seroma CHS starting on 29th April, while the boys’ championship will begin on 10th May in Lira.
