2026 CAF African schools championship

Uganda’s Group stage matches:

Monday; 6th April: Zimbabwe Vs Uganda (13:45) – Group A – Gateway High School, Harare (Live on TV)

Tuesday; 7th April: Uganda Vs DRC (1:00 PM)

Tuesday; 7th April: Morocco Vs Uganda (4:00 PM)

The Ugandan representatives at the 2026 CAF African Schools football championship (St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende) conducted that final training session at Gateway High School in Harare on Easter Sunday.

The one hour session entailed details of the match situation moments, defence, maintenance and offensive strategies as well as recovery drills as they get ready to face Zimbabwe in a Group A contest.

Head coach Hassan Zzungu, the rest of the technical docket and players alike have the belief they will surpass the bare-minimum standards to compete against the hosts.

“We have so far held three training sessions since we arrived in Harare. The players are in the best shape mentally and physically to tussle against the host country in the official opening match. The response from the players has been so good and we are ready for the challenge” Zzungu remarked after the final training session.

“The target is to win the championship; but it all starts with performing well in the opening match” he added.

The official opening ceremony has been shifted from the Ngoni stadium to Gateway Highway School stadium on Easter Monday.

Group A has Uganda (St Mary’s Boarding School, Kitende), hosts Zimbabwe, North Africans Morocco and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Uganda’s delegation to Zimbabwe was led by Hajji Twahil Kitezaala, a USSSA Executive Committee member.

There are also two Government officials; Duncans Mugumya & Brighton Barugahare (both commissioners in the Ministry of Education and Sports).

Tanzania is the reigning champions (boys) and Ghana has the girls’ title.

The championship also accommodates space for junior officials. Uganda is represented by Isaac Ssentongo who was selected through the CAF Young Referees’ Programme.
