USSSA President Justus Mugisha Elected to ISF Executive Committee

Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) President Justus Mugisha has been elected to the Executive Committee of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) for a four-year term that will run until 2030.

The election was confirmed on Wednesday morning during the ISF General Assembly in Belgrade, Serbia, marking another milestone in Mugisha’s distinguished service to international school sport.

Mugisha also served as President of the ISF Football Technical Commission, a position he was appointed to in 2018. He was elected in absentia after Uganda’s Ebola outbreak led to travel restrictions that prevented him from obtaining a visa to attend the ISF General Assembly. Despite his absence, delegates entrusted him with the leadership of the Football Technical Commission, a role in which he served with distinction.

His election to the ISF Executive Committee represents a significant elevation in responsibility, placing him among the federation’s top decision-makers responsible for shaping the strategic direction, governance and development of school sport worldwide.

David Ngugi, his counterpart from Kenya, was also elected to the same committee. Ngugi serves as the General Secretary of the Federation of East Africa School Sports Association (FEASSA)

The election is a testament to the confidence and trust that the ISF membership has in his leadership, experience, and unwavering commitment to advancing school sport at national, continental, and global levels.

As President of USSSA, Mugisha has overseen remarkable growth in school sports in Uganda while also contributing immensely to the international school sport movement through his various leadership roles within ISF.

His election further strengthens Uganda’s representation in international sports governance and highlights the country’s growing influence within the global school sport movement.
